POSITION SUMMARY:

Evaluates the patient's health care needs and works within an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and physicians to provide respiratory care for each patient. Utilizes critical thinking, and previously demonstrated Respiratory Therapy procedures and assessment techniques to help guide patients and families through all stages of the patient's healthcare journey.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE'S WILL BE ABLE TO:

• Perform respiratory care procedures in response to patient needs, physician direction/orders, and within the limits of established Baptist Health and Respiratory Care department policies and procedures.
• Have access to medication storage areas pertinent to required job tasks.
• Assess the respiratory status of assigned patients through physical exam, chart review of history/physical, and response to ordered therapies.
• Perform airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and intubations as required.
• Communicate the patient care plan thoroughly and effectively with peers, physicians, and nursing staff, maintaining a team focus during and between shifts.
• Correct and adjusts respiratory care and diagnostic equipment, communicates operational theory to other health care professionals, and recommends technology most appropriate to maximize patient comfort and safety, and the most effective use of technology.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

• Licensure/ Registration: Registered Respiratory Therapist | RRT or Certified Respiratory Therapist | CRT (CRT must obtain RRT credential within 1 year of hire.)
• Current BLS | Basic Life Support, required
• Current ACLS | Advanced Cardiac Life Support, required, within 12 months of hire.
• Current NRP | Neonatal Resuscitation Program, required, within 12 months of hire.
