  • Hours: M-F 8:00am-4:30p

A Brief Overview:
Provides quality therapeutic services in a multi-faceted position, consisting of case management and facilitating psychological evaluations to aid the education of patients and their families. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team, supporting the organization's treatment program and philosophy and also by enhancing the education of the counseling staff.

What you will do:

  • 1. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of assigned patient population. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of the patients as well as the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.

    2. Conducts brief psychological screenings on inpatient children and adolescents which are then written in a specified format in order to facilitate the education of patients and their families.

    3. Conducts comprehensive Psychological Evaluations on those patients who have a physician order

    4. Supports Behavioral Health Associates by the ongoing development of psychodeucational groups.

    5. Provides ongoing clinical consultation to the Case Management Team and Nursing Staff upon request.

    6. Conducts psychosocial assessments by interviewing the patients and their families to obtain history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus.

    7. Contacts appropriate previous and current tertiary caregivers to obtain relevant collateral clinical data that may be needed for the patient's coordination of care, treatment planning and discharge planning.

    8. Participates in regular clinical team meetings/staffings and provides input on the psychosocial, disease management and case management needs of adolescent patients.

    9. Demonstrates an understanding and adheres to all procedures and legislation which apply to patients cared for in a Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment facility.

    10. Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of community resources and medical allied staff expertise to assure an appropriate discharge plan is implemented.

    11. Provides individual, group and family process-oriented therapies. May develop and conduct educational lectures/groups for patients and family members using various professional treatment modalities.

    12. Reports to community/state agencies any patient issues that are required by hospital policy and state or federal law. Serves as the facilities representative in legal proceeding resulting from said reports.

    13. Makes entries in patient electronic record describing therapy performed, interventions, patient's clinical status, progress, family and school involvement and discharge planning process.

    14. Develops and delivers community education programs to enhance community awareness of mental health issues and resources available to address these issues and supports organization's strategic marketing effort, if needed and approved by Unit Director

    15. Responds to psychiatric codes utilizing training in management of aggressive behavior.

    16. Participates in activities that enhance professional growth and development. May serve as a spokesperson before professional or community groups.

    17. Demonstrates conduct in keeping with LOH ethical standards and EHSC "We Will" Statements.

    18. Complies with facility safety, infection control and security programs.

    19. Complies with mandatory clinical supervision of 2 hours each week and integrates recommendations into practice.

What you will need:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Doctorate in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D) within ninety days of hire

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Focus in pediatric psychology and evaluation

  • Previous experience in supervision and/or in the development of a pediatric psychiatric program

  • Previous experience completing Pediatric Psychological Evaluations to provide specified clinical information and/or comprehensive batteries in a timely manner

CPI and CPR certification is required within 90 of employment.
