The Attending Physician Clinician-Educator faculty member is expected to provide a combination of Inpatient and Outpatient care for patients with a mix of diagnoses, predominantly neurological disorders, but also musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, and medically complex conditions that require rehabilitation care. Most of these activities will take place at SRALab and Northwestern Medicine-related institutions. The faculty member also will be responsible for teaching medical students, residents, fellows, allied health professionals, and other physicians, on topics related to PM&R.

The faculty member will be expected to write and submit extramural research grant proposals, prepare manuscripts for professional journals, mentor junior scientists, establish and maintain research collaborations, and conduct applied interdisciplinary research activities.

Qualified candidates will hold a PhD degree, in addition to a MD or DO degree, be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois; have successfully completed an accredited residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation and preferably subspecialty fellowship; be Board certified or Board eligible in PM&R; have grant writing and scholarly paper publishing experience; have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, important referring parties, hospital executives, treatment team members and staff; and have strong analytical skills to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities include writing and submitting extramural research grant applications; writing and publishing scholarly papers; presenting scholarly work at national and international conferences; mentoring trainees in research; providing excellent inpatient and outpatient care for patients with neurological, musculoskeletal, and medically complex conditions at SRALab and affiliated Northwestern Medicine institutions. This individual will assume responsibility for patients' clinical quality, safety, outcomes and satisfaction; advocate a scientific approach to patient care delivery; actively participate in assigned Hospital and Department Committee work; and participate in research and in medical education activities, including teaching medical students and residents and fellows.
