Company Overview

By Light is seeking a Systems Engineer to support a Command and Control System, Single Mobility System (SMS), as part of the IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB) in Illinois approximately 23 miles from St. Louis, MO. The USTC Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract is intended to provide strategic, technical, and program management guidance and support services to facilitate the operations and modernization of the combatant command's infrastructure, systems, and applications. This support will be provided to the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6).

The successful candidate will provide system engineering experience to maintain, configure, and reliably operate network servers, server virtualization systems, laptops, desktops, VDI, and supporting software/hardware.

This position is for Monday through Friday, normal business hours. However, employee may be required to provide after-hours and weekend support during planned or emergency events.

Responsibilities

    Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems (Windows), application software (Apache Java) and system management tools.
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • System vulnerability remediation and reporting.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
  • Interact with government service owners, network technicians, customers, service desk, etc. to resolve issues or meet new requirements.
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows based environments.
  • Perform server administration tasks to include user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.
  • Perform patch management activities to maintain security and upgrade software to newer versions as needed.
  • Create troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
  • Document changes and incidents
  • Coordinate and implement a routine server maintenance plan.
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate documentation of the enterprise server infrastructure. Keep track of the inventory and location of systems.
  • Support exercise systems
  • Support ~10 exercises a year
  • On-call on-site support required
  • Ensure availability of 24/7 systems support both on-site during normal work hours and on-call during off-hours.


Required Experience/Qualifications

  • BA/BS
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience
  • DoD Secret clearance or higher
  • Must have at least one of these IAT Level II certifications: Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP
  • Must have at least one Computing Environment (CE) certification or certificate for the technical area of responsibility for Network support/defense (e.g., Splunk, Cisco, McAfee, etc.) OR Operating System (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, Solaris, etc.
  • Must possess competencies in installation, service design, and support in an environment that uses Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016.
  • Experience with production environments.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be available to participate in on-call work on a reoccurring basis.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability of end-to-end problem management and ownership.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of authentication functions and protocols such as LDAP, Kerberos, and Active Directory.


Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • MA/MS
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience
  • ITIL V4 Foundations certification
  • One of the IAM Level II certifications: CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, CCISO, HCISPP
