Summary of Job Duties:The School of Education invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. The candidate is responsible for preparing teacher candidates to teach in P-6 schools within their specialist subject area(s) while working with faculty and staff to coordinate and maintain an assessment system that provides performance-based evidence of student outcomes to ensure continuing accreditation by the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education and CAEP Standards. Candidates should have an earned doctorate degree in Education or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution. It is highly preferred that the candidate has specific areas of expertise in the following areas: teaching the Science of Reading, special education, and school leadership; teaching online, hybrid, and blended courses; and in facilitating faculty collaboration and establishing partnerships with school district. Candidate should have at least a minimum of three years of successful teaching at the college level. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in education or related field (the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment - August, 2023)
  • Three years or more of successful college teaching (Preferred)
  • Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in K-12 schools
  • Certification or eligible for certification in elementary education and/or special education
  • Skills and training to teach the Science of Reading
  • Skills and training to teach School Leadership courses
  • Knowledge and skills in integrating technology throughout the curriculum
  • Knowledge of the current software's to enhance students the ability to teach
  • Knowledge, skills, and disposition to prepare teacher candidates to teach in grades K-6
  • Teach professional education core courses that prepare teacher candidates in the elementary, middle-level, and secondary education programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, school partners, and the community to address the learning needs of all students and the teacher education program
  • Knowledge of curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • High degree of proficiency and experience in teaching online and hybrid courses
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate-level students
  • Experience working with undergraduate and graduate-level students and state-mandated policies related to program standards, Praxis exams, and the assessment of student performance
  • Conduct and publish research focusing on issues and trends in education
  • Experience coordinating and chairing education organizations
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the community to address the learning needs of all students and the teacher education program
  • Ability to perform other duties and services as needed in the department, college, and university
