Summary of Job Duties:Faculty Responsibilities

A faculty member shall be responsible to his/her dean and the Vice Chancellor for Academics and has the following duties:

1.To be concerned with all things involving teaching and student learning and to provide instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy and objectives of the College in accordance with the established and approved course outlines.
2.To be engaged in division/department activities and to collectively plan and evaluate the divisions annual goals, objectives and outcomes.
3.To assess student learning in his/her classes and to utilize this assessment to improve instruction. Assessment of student learning includes student evaluation, end of course assessments, course success rates, graduation rates, and enrollment rates.
4.To acquaint all students with course requirements, including how grades are to be determined, during the first week of class and provide students with periodic evaluations of his/her progress.
5.To meet classes as scheduled, arriving prior to the start time and keeping class for the scheduled time.
6.To follow appropriate course syllabi, and utilize appropriate learning activities that support the objective of the course.
7.To prepare thoroughly for each class, providing learning activities that stimulate student involvement, encourage reflection and critical thinking, and take into consideration different learning styles.
8.To provide information about available resources outside of class: internet, library, tutoring, counseling, others.
9.To inform the division dean when class will not meet as scheduled. When possible, arrange a substitute or provide learning activities during the time of absence.
10.To display professional mannerisms in conduct and appearance whether teaching day or evening classes and at all times in representing UAHT.
11.To advertise and maintain a minimum of 10 office hours per week for student consultation and post the hours so students can easily know them. An instructors 10 office hours cannot be counted during class lab time if the instructor is being additionally compensated for that time (overload).
12.To maintain office hours of various days and times in order to fit students' schedules. To encourage students to visit during office hours.
13.To inform students on how to log into their blackboard, email, etc
14.To schedule office hours at least one afternoon per week. Deviations may be made only in special situations with the Vice Chancellor approval.
15.To maintain a minimum of 30 working hours per week on campus (or campus related events) for faculty teaching a normal teaching load.
16.To serve as an advisor to students majoring in the instructor's discipline or an assigned area.
17.To accept advising assignments and be responsible for correct advising, placement and registration of students.
18.To be available to assist advisees during course planning and orientation periods.
19.To be informed about degree requirements and transfer requirements.
20.To provide accurate records concerning each advisee's progress toward meeting his or her educational goal.
21.To maintain accurate class rolls and attendance records of students enrolled in his/her classes and submit required reports to Student Services. Keep grades and attendance records up to date.
22.To emphasize to all classes the importance of prompt, regular, and continuous class attendance. Communicate with students who have missed class or are not attending.
23.Report "No Show" students by the census date
24.Actively participate in annual Assessment and Planning Report and attend presentations by other divisions.
25.To submit the names of all the students who may need scholastic counseling and/or personal counseling to the Vice Chancellor for Student Services.
26.To provide students with resources to help them in the success of their course or course of study.
27.To prepare and submit to the Enrollment Services office at the close of each grade report period the grade of each student enrolled in his/her classes being mindful of policies regarding last day of attendance.
28.To actively engage in division/departmental curriculum changes and submit any required documentation to the dean and/or curriculum committee for review on a timely basis.
29.To actively engage in textbook recommendation in consultation with the dean.
30.To serve as a faculty advisor and/or sponsor to student organizations when required to do so.
31.To report all irregularities, questions, or problems concerning instruction to the dean and/or the Vice Chancellor for Academics.
32.To participate in Commencement exercises in academic dress, unless previously excused by the Vice Chancellor for Academics.
33.To maintain current credentials on file in Workday, with the Vice Chancellor for Academics, and in the Office of Human Resources, staying current in their discipline and teaching methodology.
34.To attend and support activities of the college. Mandatory attendance is required at:
*Faculty meetings;
*Commencement;
*Department meetings;
*Curriculum Committee meetings;
*Registration sessions, as assigned;
*Campus meetings, including Chancellor's Forums;
*On-campus professional development activities;
*Meetings held by the committees on which the faculty is a member;
*Fish Fry, and any other annual college event as deemed mandatory by the
Chancellor;
*Other meetings and activities as assigned by the division dean, the Vice
Chancellor for Academics, or the Chancellor.
35.To assume special duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Academics or his/her designated representative.
36.To maintain and support an encouraging attitude toward other members of your department and colleagues in other departments.
37.To abide by the regulations in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
38.Twelve (12) month faculty must adhere to the attendance policy of other non-faculty employees and the work hour calendar. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer technology or related field. Tested experience or other credentials may be considered in lieu of degree. Masters degree and teaching experience preferred.

    Duties:

  • Teach college level courses in the area of coding, computer maintenance, web design, information security, and basic computer applications
