The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) in the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a fulltime tenured or tenuretrack, openrank faculty position beginning Fall 2024 in Computational ThermoFluid Mechanics. We invite applicants with research interests in the broad area of Computational ThermoFluids analysis and design. Successful candidates will be able to interface with ongoing research programs and departmental, college and university strategic priorities. Possible applications of research interests can include (but are not limited to) energy systems, biological, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing sectors, including microand nanofluidics, hypersonics and/or multiphase flows. Selected candidates will have the potential for developing a collaborative and innovative research program. They should also demonstrate the ability to complement the existing undergraduate and graduate teaching and research expertise in the MME department with a proven emphasis on mentorship, multidisciplinarity, collegiality, and scholarship.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of engineering and demonstrate a record of scholarly work commensurate with rank and commitment to teaching a diverse set of undergraduate and graduate students in Mechanical Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service, with an emphasis on a proven track record and/or potential of externally funded research programs of international reputation. The candidate is expected to collaborate with other faculty members in MME and other departments in the CEC and FIU. Currently, the MME department participates in large multiuniversity and multiPI projects such as NSF ERC, NSFPREM, DOEMSIPP, NASAMIRO and ARLCold Spray and Rapid Deposition Lab (ColRAD).
