ABOUT THE JOB

This newly created Business Development Director (BDD) role, reporting to the VP of Water Treatment, will develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy driving increased profit growth in new and existing water treatment markets. You will develop and lead a team of high-performing regional Business Development Managers (BDMs) to execute the strategic plan, collaborate with the Hawkins Water Treatment Sales and Technical organizations to focus selling and support efforts, and direct customer acquisition activities in key market segments and accounts. Location is flexible within Hawkins' target territories.

Responsibilities:

Lead a team of High-Performing Sales Professionals



  • Hire, develop and lead a team of Regional Business Development Managers to execute on the water treatment expansion strategy.


Develop and Lead Growth Strategy



  • Develop and lead growth strategy into new and existing water treatment markets
  • Identifies, evaluates, and executes new business opportunities aligned with the company's overall strategy for growth in new and existing markets.
  • Conducts market analysis and leverages emerging trends to develop strategic vision for new market expansion. Looks beyond the company's current business landscape to discern future growth opportunities.
  • Research customer needs and trends and uses the information to inform the business and product development strategies.
  • Leads profit growth through the BDM team by identifying and acquiring new customers in focused market segments.


Develop Solutions through Internal Collaboration



  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to modify existing products and services to accommodate new customer bases and potential revenue streams.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to understand the company's strengths and value proposition to create sales strategies that result in sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Mobilizes internal stakeholders to support new and current business development initiatives.
  • Acts as an advisor to the whole business on matters related to business development.


Financial Acumen, Metrics & Reporting



  • Develops strategies for lead generation, monitoring, and conversion, including reports showing lead generation success and failure rates.
  • Measures outcomes, adjusts approach to achieve desired results.
  • Develops reporting to provide insight on the progress of business development initiatives against the set strategic objectives.


Relationship Management / Industry Presence



  • Acts as the brand ambassador for the company going into new market segments and geographic territories.
  • Ensures consistent customer satisfaction based on a deep understanding of customer needs.
  • Develops and grows relationships with key suppliers and industry trade organizations.
  • Maintains a strong industry network and knowledge of competitive companies.


                    PREFERRED BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

                    Experience



                    • 10+ years of experience with strong water treatment industry knowledge.
                    • 5+ years proven track record in sales
                    • 3+ years of experience in industrial water treatment and wastewater treatment.
                    • 3+ years successfully leading a high performing team.


                    Skills



                    • Enthusiasm for frequent overnight travel by air and car.
                    • Professional presence and ability to develop and deliver effective sales presentations
                    • Strong computer skills, including MS Office tools.
                    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
                    • Demonstrated advanced problem-solving skills.
                    • Advanced math skills including ability to perform statistics calculations.
                    • Effective organizational and follow-through skills required.
                    • Must have an acceptable driving record.
                    • Strong work ethic.

                    Physical Requirements:



                              The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.



                              • Domestic Travel 40 to 60% - Enthusiasm for frequent overnight travel by air and car.
                              • Regularly work a schedule outside of normal business hours
                              • Frequently travel by air and land
                              • Lift over 50 pounds regularly, 75 lbs. occasionally.
                              • Participate in customer manufacturing site walk-throughs and product trials lasting for 6 to 8 hours. (Walk, Stand, climb, sit for 6-8 hours.)
                              • Physical readiness and willingness to perform job functions safely according to company policies.
                              • Occasionally ride along with BDMs, Sales Reps and Technical Sales Reps in delivery vehicles wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
