DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Conduct special studies, data collection, and extraction to support the performance improvement patient safety process (for weekly complication meetings and monthly peer review). Prepare and present quarterly reports for bariatric medical leadership and bariatric program manager, present results of reports at quarterly bariatric patient safety meetings and across divisions. Enter abstracted information from patient medical records, and pre-hospital records into an electronic database according to standardized coding rules and quality standards established by the MBSA and all pertinent accrediting bodies. Maintain a database of all bariatric patients, and abstract data from patient medical records into a database to submit to MBSAQIP data registry. Collect preoperative, intraoperative, 30-day postoperative, and long-term (six-month and annual) follow-up data components for the program through the effective utilization of the hospital medical record systems and a coordinated effort with individual surgeon office staff. Serve as an educational resource on the MBSAQIP Data Registry Platform for internal and external audiences by developing educational material and delivering presentations. Stay current on industry standards by attending annual national regional, and/or state meetings/workshops. Complete the MBSCR Online Training Program. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired. Completion of an accredited course of medical records technology, nursing, or a related medical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
