Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Purchasing Functional Controller at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY Define the procurement plan, budget the costs by project and monitor the purchasing performance in costs / schedule. Purchasing Functional Controller is the Purchasing management's resource to assist with the process of making sound business decisions. S/he assists program management and other stakeholders in establishing program control accounts and earned value criteria for the Purchasing department and program material. The Purchasing Functional Controller is also responsible to keep and maintain reliable performance reporting and manage the material EAC reforecast. The Purchasing Functional Controller is intimately involved in and supports all phases of a contract, from proposal preparation through contract closeout. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Define, monitor and report programs procurement schedule
  • Create and update an accurate list of the long lead materials, commodity type items and commission services
  • Develop and maintain material procurement and delivery schedules and when variances arise, provides explanations and impacts, adjusts the forecast, and communicates variance explanations and impacts to Head of Purchasing, Finance and Program Management
  • Monitor impact of changes on cost and schedule performance and reflect impacts in the financial operating plan
  • Ensure alignment between the program Integrated Master Schedule and Purchasing Department procurement schedule
  • Assist Purchasing Management in budget and target saving definition
  • Attend program bid preparation and provide initial estimate of the costs
  • Support PMO and Finance in the definition of the procurement budget for each item
  • Supports Purchasing Management, Program Management, and Finance in make or buy decisions
  • Define, jointly with Head of Purchasing, target savings by office
  • Create and maintain an accurate reporting
  • Report on a weekly / monthly basis the actual costs / estimated remaining costs by ship and
  • Perform variance analysis of the actuals vs budget / reforecast
  • Maintain an accurate report on all the operative metrics such as changes, quantities etc.
  • Support reforecast process updating the Financial Operating Plan and providing new assumptions
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
