DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Information Technology Generalist I, you will be responsible for recommending desktop software and hardware purchases, systems integration and installation, and the use of hardware and software necessary to upgrade the department's capability. You will provide technical support to users by analyzing the needs of the target audience and developing or revising technical documents, user guides, release notes, document libraries, and more.
Additionally, you will stay updated on the capabilities and limitations of industry technologies relative to the environment to provide recommendations in support of the department's IT needs. You will resolve or escalate project related issues that may include project status and progress via project metrics, risk mitigations, contingencies, changes in scope, timeframe concerns, and program area or development issues. You will also regularly review technical manuals and have the opportunity to attend seminars and training sessions to improve new technology skills. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week, and report to the office 3 days per week. Management may discontinue the telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters location.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician; or
- One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
- Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must have experience using Microsoft computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as experience with troubleshooting techniques in Microsoft Windows environment.
- You must have experience prioritizing tasks, managing multiple responsibilities, and meeting deadlines effectively and in assigned time-frames.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Information technology experience including providing IT support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance.
- The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of information technology concepts and practices.
- Familiarity with the component parts of personal computers, peripherals, servers, and associated functionality.
