The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology, of the State University of New York, invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Marketing Communications department of the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology.

The Baker School of Business and Technology educates students that become graduates with skill sets and industry knowledge that are immediately valuable to employers, empowering our alumni to forge successful, satisfying careers as rising professionals in the fashion and related creative fields.

Seven of the ten Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP is dedicated to promoting continuous improvement in the practice of business in every industry worldwide.

The Marketing Communications department offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Advertising and Marketing Communications as well as a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Direct and Interactive Marketing. Emphasizing teamwork, cultural awareness, creative thinking, and communication and technology skills, the program prepares students to become innovative leaders.

Students gain a global perspective through a blend of academic study and hands-on experience. The curriculum fosters the development of creative and business acumen, preparing students for successful careers across a wide range of marketing communications fields, including advertising, brand management, video production and media technologies, public relations, communications, journalism, and direct and interactive marketing.

The Advertising and Marketing Communication program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Job Description:

The Baker School of Business and Technology seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member for the Marketing Communications department. Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise and business acumen in the fields of advertising and marketing, teaching strategic thinking with creative execution in the program's core curriculum.

Candidates should have a robust background in advertising and marketing and be able to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, strategies, and practices in the field. The ideal candidate will have experience in the area(s) of advertising, account management, product management, shopper marketing, public relations and marketing research and strategy.

Primary responsibilities include delivering engaging lectures that promote active learning and encourage creative and analytical thinking. The new faculty member will be expected to develop and expand the curriculum in the areas of advertising and marketing communications.

Additional responsibilities include advising students, mentoring, facilitating internships, alumni engagement, department meetings, and participating in industry functions. The new faculty member will serve on department, school, and college-wide committees, support accreditation, and participate in administrative activities as required.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Candidates must have a master's degree in communications or related field, or enrolled in a master's degree program, in progress, to completion.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the advertising and marketing field.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • College-level teaching or instructional experience.
  • Terminal degree in a field related to marketing communications.

Salary

The final starting salary and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience; Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Salary Schedules pg. 72.

Instructor: $65,207.33 - $75,971.53

Assistant Professor: $75,917.54 - $111,883.11

Associate Professor: $88,858.05 -133,780.10

Professor: $108,354.52 - $163,053.55

The College reserves the right to select one or more candidates after having been duly reviewed and presented to the President in conformance with the provisions of Article 15 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
