The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York and an internationally renowned college of art, design, business and technology with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, invites applications for the Sports Information Specialist.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Sports Information Specialist will be responsible for administration of FIT Athletics sports information and marketing. The Sports Information Specialist will primarily be responsible for curating and posting content to the FIT Athletics website and social media accounts, reporting of FIT Athletics sports information to appropriate governing bodies and maintaining oversight of FIT Athletics team-specific social media accounts.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:



  • Ensure that FIT Athletics website and social media accounts operate within the spirit of the FIT Athletics mission and within the framework of NJCAA, NE District, Region 15 regulations.
  • Maintain FIT Athletics website, FIT NJCAA / Region 15 webpages, FIT Athletics social media accounts and shared media drive with up to date and accurate information.
  • Keep social media current, on-trend and relevant year-round as evidenced by creating attractive posts, implementation of creative new ideas, and a steady increase in followers / engagement throughout the year.
  • Monitor and respond to DM / comment inquiries on behalf of the department; escalate DMs / comments to the attention of department staff when necessary.
  • Monitoring social media / website analytics statistics and maintaining analytics reports.
  • Ensure timely reporting of scores and statistics to the FIT Tigers website, FIT Athletics social media pages, Region 15 and NJCAA websites.
  • Communicate with coaches to obtain results, player bios, stories and general sports information for posting on FIT Athletics and NJCAA websites.
  • Oversee shared media drive and ensure that all photographs / recorded content such as head shots, team photos, action shots and highlight videos are uploaded in a timely manner and cataloged correctly.
  • Work with the Sports Information Assistant, graphic designers and coaches to assure that a wide range of competitions / events are covered, and related stories are posted in a timely fashion.
  • Promote accomplishments internally to various campus constituents especially FIT's Communications and External Relations (CER) Department and externally to Region 15 and the NJCAA as appropriate.
  • Nominate deserving teams and athletes for Regional and National level athletic award recognition / by required deadlines.
  • Coordinate the live streaming of assigned competitions and events; set up live stream capabilities and permissions.
  • Advise Athletic Director of changes in trends or other anticipated department, athletic team or recreation program Sports Information needs.
  • Supervise and provide direction for the Sports Information Assistant, Graphic Designer and photographers
  • Attend required meetings and complete required trainings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • One year of experience working in a college athletics sports information setting.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, sports management or related field of study.
  • Experience in college level athletics and recreation facilities, equipment and inventory control.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:



  • Genuine interest in collegiate athletics and enthusiasm to enhance the FIT student-athlete / recreation experience.
  • Superior technological skills in the area of web / social media administration, analytics and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with Sidearm Sports and PrestoSports back end systems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to act upon latest sports information / marketing / social media trends.
  • Outstanding managerial, organizational, creative and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems, work independently, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Availability to work weekday evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.


Additional Information:

Review of applications will begin immediately until the position is filled. Successful completion of a background check is required for appointment to this position once an offer has been made.

Salary:

Stipend: $13,658.83 - $16,000 per annum (based on experience, sport qualifications and budgetary allowance)

Terms: Stipend is per annum, and will be determined based on experience, qualifications and budgetary allowance. All FIT Athletics part-time positions consist of at-will appointments that last for one fiscal year, and do not carry any medical, annual leave, sick leave, or other fringe benefit entitlement.

Work Schedule:

Days/Hours: 10-12 hrs per week, primarily to consist of weekday evenings and weekends; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.
