About the Job

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a full-time faculty researcher/scientist. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must have demonstrated ability in research, scholarly productivity, and teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a research fellowship and/or a clinical scholars program designed to prepare physician-scientists for an independent career in clinical and patient-oriented translational research. Minimum requirements a MD/PhD degree. MD/PhD candidates must have eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota, current board certification or have board eligibility in radiation oncology, completion of an ACGME-accredited radiation oncology residency training.

The faculty appointment will be in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The University of Minnesota is a large and diverse university and medical school with a large subspecialty practice plan of over 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, University of Minnesota Physicians. The candidate will also be expected to maintain a clinical practice and may see patients at University of Minnesota clinics throughout the Minneapolis metro area. The position provides substantial resources, state-of-the-art facilities, and exceptional opportunities for collaboration with investigators in the University of Minnesota Medical School and the Masonic Cancer Center (http://www.cancer.umn.edu), an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Candidates will have the opportunity to mentor and teach medical residents and medical students.

Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate's area of specialty/research experience with a goal of developing collaborative or independent, externally funded research. Faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents and faculty.

The Department of Radiation Oncology is home to clinical faculty as well as basic science faculty involved in research, undergraduate and graduate education. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $55,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.
