The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center is seeking an Associate Vice Chief of Ambulatory Cardiology to serve as a physician leader and director of the ambulatory patient care operations.

This position will focus on outpatient services in the Worcester campus and outreach locations and will work closely with the Associate Vice Chiefs of Community cardiology and inpatient care. The VC of Ambulatory will also collaborate with the Clinic Managers, Senior Directors, Service Line Coordinators and Sr. Administrator to establish strategic goals for the clinical areas which align with the UMass Memorial Medical Center. This role will assume the responsibilities of the Ambulatory Physician Leader, Med Center in additional to expanded strategic goals and operational duties.

The candidate, in collaboration with the Administrator and Chief, will lead cardiovascular services to further expand its geographical footprint by developing an operating strategy that incorporates the system values of the Institution. The candidate will be expected to spend 80% of time in clinical care including outpatients and Non-Invasive imaging and 20% being involved with managing the ambulatory programs including operations, quality assurance, scholarly activity, and other performance metrics to drive improvement across ambulatory clinics. A specialized clinical interest could also be supported if required.

  • Will be responsible for the operational success of the hospital-based ambulatory practices and is charged to lead focused initiatives to assure efficient operations to create and support exceptional patient service, faculty, staff, and patient satisfaction, growth and volume management and financial performance.

  • Will serve as part of the cardiovascular leadership team under the Chief and work closely with the hospital management. The candidate must demonstrate a passion for the mission with a personal commitment of collaboration, innovation, inclusion, transparency, trust building, and political leadership.

  • Must have strong communication skills with a collegial and thoughtful approach when dealing with process improvement. They will support a clinical environment that values and builds teamwork and morale.

  • Must be a board-certified cardiologist wanting to work in a collegial setting where clinical care, training the next generation of providers, and research are valued.
