RN Magnet Coordinator

General Summary of Position
Gathers and analyzes data to write and submit initial Magnet application. Supports Nursing Leadership in preparing policies, documents, staff, and Senior Management for Magnet.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison to ANCC and maintains accurate, timely and consistent communications and records with ANCC re Magnet application process.
  • Acts as liaison for nursing councils. Serves as Magnet cheerleader and chief morale officer during and for the process.
  • Collaborates internally and externally, including other MedStar hospitals and with consultants.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Educates and informs physicians and management staff about Magnet. Prepares and provides timely reports to stakeholders to maintain support and buy-in for Magnet.
  • Maintains ongoing readiness in preparation for re-designation status. Maintains reporting mechanism such as RN Professional Profile, Magnet Status annual monitoring reports and quality reports to required databases such as NDNQI.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in planning and implementation of celebrations and recognitions.
  • Proactively scans the environment, literature, etc. to identify opportunities for improvement to meet and/or maintain Magnet designation.
  • Responsible for budget preparation, resource allocation and project management.
  • Selects, trains, orients, and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and conducts performance management planning. Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new development, and exchange information.
  • Writes and coordinates the writing and submission of the initial Magnet Designation process.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required and
    • Master's degree in related field preferred

    Experience

    • 5-7 years Nursing experience with progressive leadership and new program development and management. required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Valid RN license in the State of Maryland required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent organization skills.
    • Working knowledge of Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, database, and project software applications.
    • Ability to lead and inspire.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

    This position has a hiring range of $100,588 - $164,000
