Senior Manager, Quality Engineering (Space Systems)
Position Profile:
The Senior Manager, Quality Engineering, is responsible for the activities in support of production flow from contract review through shipment, including contract and purchase order review, inspection of shop floor, incoming material and testing functions, and final review of hardware and data that is deliverable to customers.
Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in related field - Engineering strongly preferred.
  • 10 years' relevant work experience (or combination of experience and education).
  • Demonstrated and relevant leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of common Aerospace quality standards (ISO-9001 and AS-9100) and typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, fabrication, material forming, product assembly, Foreign Object Debris prevention, MRB, Quality Requirements Engineering (QRE), etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership of continuous improvement tools (e.g. Lean, 6S, root cause analysis, process mapping).
  • Exemplary verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as any and all outside agents, including but not limited to vendors, suppliers, customers, potential job candidates, etc.
  • Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.


Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide support for the management and modification of the current Quality System to maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS 9100 systems requirements.
  • Help to revise and maintain Space BU's technical specification library.
  • Ensure technical compliance with specifications.
  • Develop and implement proper training and organizational processes.
  • Audit / inspect contract requirements, purchase orders, incoming material, finished parts from shop floor, assembled valves, etc.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, execute testing, and initiate corrective actions for defects and variations and follow up on efficacy of actions as required.
  • Reduce process variability and improve efficiency using continuous improvement methods.
  • Transform statistical data analysis into actionable goals and projects.
  • Identify, document and process all non-conformances, routing MRB deviations to customers for approval.
  • Develop, manage and maintain Quality Engineering knowledge, expertise, and internal and external resources to support past, current and developing products and services.
  • Provide information to internal and external customers on project progress and latest expectations.
  • Develop and maintain applicable systems for developing, documenting, maintaining Quality specifications and background in a secure, accessible and effective manner.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, manage, develop, motivate, recognize, reward and where necessary discipline and terminate personnel.
  • Create and manage annual operating budgets.
  • Develop external relationships with customers, consultants and vendors to extend the Quality competencies and resources to address Marotta business needs.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and innovation initiatives that drive improvements and efficiency in key processes.
  • Respond to undesirable trends in performance data using continuous improvement tools.
  • Drive reductions in process variation.
  • Manage training requirements of applicable internal team members (and external, when applicable). Facilitate training, as needed, to maintain a cross-trained workforce and to support operational goals and objectives.
  • Provide information to internal and external customers on project progress and expected completion (timeline and cost).


Additional Duties / Responsibilities:


  • Author, revise and maintain Marotta Controls procedures, as needed or directed.
  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
  • Ensure self, and personnel company-wide, are abiding by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures (6S) to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Foster a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization.
  • Organize and lead team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goals Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values.
  • Keep management informed of activities and of any significant problems or non-conformances of hardware.
  • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with personnel at all levels, company-wide.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.


Work Environment:


  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment.
  • This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 10 hours, Monday through Thursday. Overtime and weekend work may be required, as job duties demand.Some travel is expected for this position (10-15%).

This position is at our Montville, NJ office location.
