Located at the UT Dallas Callier Center in Richardson, The Medical Scheduler position requires expertise in all aspects of medical insurance guidelines and patient appointment scheduling. The position completes the appointment process and related tasks for new and established patients. This position provides the first point of contact with the patient and must demonstrate a friendly demeanor and excellent patient relations.

Minimum Education and Experience |
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year but less than 3 years of experience in high volume medical scheduling; at least 1 year but less than 3 years of medical office experience; knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance guidelines. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Two or more years of experience with high-volume patient scheduling in an ENT and/or Audiology practice is preferred
- Strong patient relations skills required
- Strong personal computer literacy is required including working knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Office-Excel and Word.
- Familiarity and experience with practice management and medical software programs/scheduling
- Ability to work accurately with data, including checks for integrity, summation, and effective communication to internal and external constituents
- Organized and effective at dealing with several activities simultaneously; strong organizational skills required; ability to prioritize
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Demonstrates the highest degree of accuracy and readability for all work and team projects
- Protects patient health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards

Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Primary responsibility will be scheduling patient appointments
- High volume scheduling for patient appointments in a medical practice
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines for commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
- Knowledge of prior authorization and PCP referral process
- Experience with patient financials; past due balances; copay and deductible amounts, and insurance pending balances
- Research all scheduled appointments for accurate demographic and insurance information as well as accurate authorization information
- Acts as liaison between the patient, clinicians, and business office staff
- Provide support to front office staff to support the patient registration/patient check-out process
- Provide clerical support as needed
- Other duties as assigned
