Department:Art and Graphic DesignDepartment's Website: This position will be assigned courses in lower- and upper-level Graphic Design and relevant Foundations courses. The appointment includes a 3/2 teaching load, maintenance of scholarship/creative practice, and service expectations including, but not limited to committee service, student advising, and departmental collaboration. The Art Department at UAFS offers a B.A. in Studio Art, a B.S. in Graphic Design, and minors in Art History and Studio Art. The program holds NASAD accreditation. The B.S. in Graphic Design at UAFS boasts an active alumni network and strong job placement rates. It is housed within the Windgate Art & Design building, home to robust facilities for Design, Book Arts and Letterpress, Printmaking, Digital Photography, Drawing, and Painting. The position reports to Art Department Head. Qualifications: Required Education and/or Work Experience: Terminal degree from an accredited institution in Graphic Design or related field and minimum of two years of professional practice within the field of Design. Applicants with minimum of two years of exceptional professional practice, a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from an accredited institution, and who will have acquired a terminal degree in Graphic Design or related field from an accredited institution within one year of hire may also be considered. Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Area of expertise is open; those with interests or training in more than one subject area are preferred. Experience teaching at the college or university level strongly preferred.Preferred research interests include: typography, branding, and/or emerging technologies. Experience with print production and/or digital fabrication will be viewed favorably. Ability to draw curricular connections between Graphic Design and Letterpress/Book Arts or Studio Art would be viewed favorably. Membership in professional organizations related to field of expertise is preferred.
