Job Summary

The director of patient safety will promote a culture of safety and high reliability through Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital by providing leadership and oversight for the patient safety programs as well as team members who are leading these programs. The director of patient safety will support the development and execution of the organizational operational plan through the implementation of strategy, policy, direction and action plans while managing the day-to-day operations of the patient safety department. Additionally, a major responsibility of the director of patient safety is the coordination of the many patient safety initiatives undertaken by various interdisciplinary teams within the Hospital and Johns Hopkins Health System.

Qualifications




  • Minimum of five years progressively more responsible operational and management experience in a health care setting (preferably within a health system) or Master's Degree in the field of Nursing, Public Health, Health Policy, Business Administration, Health Administration or a related
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing or other clinical, patient-care related field
  • Minimum of five years of clinical and/or patient safety experience with at least 2 years of recent experience in patient safety with a preference for experience in pediatrics
  • Knowledge and ability to navigate complex organizations, manage business operations and be proficient in patient safety science
  • Possess advanced leadership, facilitation, teaching, presentation, written and verbal communication skills necessary to collaborate with senior clinical and administrative leaders to define, lead and execute quality improvement initiatives
