Project Controls Manager

Purpose of the Role:
The Project Controls Manager is responsible for overseeing the cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities throughout the lifecycle of heavy industrial or large construction projects. This role ensures that Worley's projects are delivered on time and within budget while supporting the company's sustainability goals and ensuring close collaboration with cross-functional teams and clients. The position contributes directly to the company's strategic vision of achieving sustainable transformation by maintaining control over project costs and change management processes.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Oversee all aspects of cost control, including budgeting, commitment analysis, forecasting, and change management to ensure successful project delivery in alignment with Worley's sustainability objectives.
  • Manage and monitor the financial aspects of projects, including cost budgets, commitments, actuals, estimates to complete, trending, and estimates at completion, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Ensure comprehensive project lifecycle cost control by working closely with internal teams, contractors, and clients to understand project status, provide cost reporting, and manage changes effectively.
  • Supervise the project close-out activities, ensuring all financial commitments, forecasts, and reports are complete and align with project objectives.
  • Manage change orders in relation to cost and schedule impacts, ensuring that all modifications are accurately reflected in cost forecasts and reports.
  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost, forecast, and change management reports, ensuring these are regularly updated and communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teams across finance, procurement, subcontractors, material control, project management, and construction management to ensure data accuracy and support decision-making processes.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis related to budget control, trending, and forecasting to provide valuable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all reporting and cost management activities align with Worley's commitment to sustainable project outcomes and effective resource management.

Qualifications / Skill Set:



  • Extensive experience in project controls, cost management, and change management within heavy industrial or large construction projects, preferably in the energy, chemicals, or oil and gas sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of project management techniques, including budgeting, commitment analysis, forecasting, and reporting for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as SAP, Oracle, Excel, and other relevant software for cost control and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the full project lifecycle, from concept to completion, with a focus on cost efficiency and sustainability.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Experience in analyzing project data, developing cost control strategies, and providing actionable recommendations to ensure project success.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with regulatory requirements in all project-related activities.
  • A focus on sustainable outcomes, ensuring that projects align with Worley's ambition to derive a significant portion of revenue from sustainability-related projects by FY26.
