Responsibilities

Sierra Vista Hospital is seeking a Community Liason for our Business Development Department. If you're passionate about working in the behavioral health setting and have the desire to join a team of healthcare professionals dedicated to serving our patients, we want to hear from you!

The Community Liaison implements the philosophy, policy, procedures, systems and strategic goals set forth by the senior management team while maximizing the highest level of customer service and Service Excellence Standards to assigned referral sources.

The Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems.


Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years experience in health care business development/marketing environment with measurable business development results, and a knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles, preferred.

Education:

A Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health area, marketing, business administration or related field or equivalent work experience.

Licensure:

Must have a valid driver's license.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor all admissions to the hospital and review the referral source information listed for each patient.
  • Contact each applicable patient (as defined by facility goals and/or Business Development Manager) to obtain the names of appropriate external professionals or agencies involved with their care or referral sources.
  • Acts as liaison between the facility and referral sources and implements service-oriented action plans responsive to referral source needs, serves as a resource and representative to the community and, conducts facility tours to key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with existing referral sources and shows ability to identify additional referral sources.
  • Participate in social media content planning, activities internally and externally.
  • Adhere and contribute towards strategic planning initiatives and goals.
  • Take appropriate actions concerning "contact-us" website inquiries.
  • Assist in maintaining marketing material description to adhere most updated curriculums, standards and program hours.
  • Confirm referral source information and report any corrections to the Director, Manager or Designee of Assessment and Referral.
  • Contact treatment providers and referral source by telephone, visits, emails or mail. Inquire from the providers information necessary for their coordination with the patient's care at the hospital.
  • Notify hospital social services or case managers of the external professionals and information requested.
  • Conduct periodic follow up internally or externally to ensure that communication has occurred.
  • Attend daily census meetings on a regularly basis.
  • Establish relationships with external professionals and determine their objectives and knowledge of hospital programs that may meet those objectives.
  • Enter all referral contacts in the MS4 system and stay current at least mid-month and by the end of each month.
  • Maintain current awareness of changes in the industry through self-education, peer education, and professional and community involvement for the betterment of this position and the facility.
  • Participate actively in regularly scheduled Business Development team meetings to reduce duplication of efforts (i.e. setting up joint calls with the CEO and other business development staff, overall participation in the marketing effort) and coordinate response to referral sources as indicated regarding their clients while patients in our systems.
  • Promote facility teamwork environment and Service Excellence culture.
  • Participate in the continuous analysis of the changing health care environment and health care market.
  • Attend in-house planning and development committee meetings, as requested.
  • Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
  • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
  • Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
  • Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
  • Be available for contact by pager or cell phone during normal business hours on workdays.
  • As required by Director of Business Development and facility needs, participate in off-hours sales and community activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
