The Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota occasionally needs term (non-tenure track) professional practice faculty to support curriculum development, contribute to and guide students on special class assignments, facilitate student opportunities for engaging in professional programs, advance our accredited strategic communication curriculum, teach in their areas of expertise and supervise internship opportunities. Term faculty include visiting, contract, adjunct or temporary appointments. Term faculty positions will be appointed for the 2024-25 academic year and responsibilities will vary. This posting is for part time employment. Term faculty selected for these positions are selected for their expertise and continued engagement as industry leaders in regional, national, and international professional communities. In addition to teaching, as part of their appointments, they may be expected to contribute to curriculum development, research, and/or engagement projects depending on their expertise. Term faculty may also be charged with advising students and/or faculty, engaging in strategic communication practice and training, and performing service and outreach as appropriate for the rank of appointment. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2024-25 academic year. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as needed basis through the academic year. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. The position carries the title of ranked Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Practice depending on qualifications, including years of professional industry experience as well as in management and executive leadership roles. About the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication The Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota is part of the College of Liberal Arts and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Journalism and Mass Communication. The Hubbard School offers majors in Strategic Communication - Advertising and Public Relations, Professional Journalism, and Media and Information; and minors in Media and Information and Digital Media Studies.
