This is a remote position; however, the candidate must reside within 30 miles of one of the following locations: San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Boston, MA; Dallas, TX and Portland, ME. The candidate needs to be available to work in the Pacific Time Zone.

About the Team/Role

TAG is the strategic credit card issuing and processing platform for WEX. We have grand ambitions for the growth of our platform and a large backlog of work defined to get us there. As the Senior Engineering Manager for the team, you'll play a vital role in enabling our team to achieve those ambitions.

How you'll make an impact
  • Be a strong technical leader, being responsible for the technical vision and roadmap of the platform.

  • Have one or more application architects reporting to you who are responsible for executing on your technical vision and roadmap.

  • Be a manager of managers, having several engineering managers reporting to you, each of whom have their own engineering teams.

  • Collaborate with our Product team and other stakeholders as required to define and deliver roadmaps that delight our customers, enable the growth of our business, and ensure technical excellence of our card processing platform.

  • Be responsible for the delivery of our roadmap in a sustainable manner, looking after our people, our stakeholders and our platform.

  • Be a strong enabler of continuous improvement initiatives to uplift delivery, technical and operational process capability and assets.

  • Be a passionate champion of technical, delivery and operational best practices.

  • Be outcome driven and strongly believe in the value of metrics and the ability to measure the success of outcomes, and ensure your people embrace the same.

  • Be responsible for the hardest delivery, technical and operational problems that TAG has to offer. Your teams will do all the heavy lifting to execute on these problems as independently as possible, but they will rely on you to provide them with the right guidance and support in the small and large, the easiest and hardest.

  • Partner and collaborate effectively with other platform teams and service providers in the wider WEX Technology organization to deliver change efficiently, securely and safely.

  • Be not only great at building software, but also be great at building people and enabling their careers.

  • Have a leadership style that is collaborative and enabling.

Experience you'll bring
  • 10+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams

  • A track record of success as a manager of engineering managers.

  • A strong technical leader, having demonstrable successes in architecture and high-level solution design, development, and delivery in a cloud environment at scale.

  • Demonstrable deep experience in modern software engineering practices, cloud platforms, and enabling technologies, including test and deployment automation.

  • A track record of advanced stakeholder and people management skills

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
