Position Overview

By Light is seeking a Journeyman NetOps Engineer position at MacDill AFB, FL supporting the Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSM-O II), Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). The JCSE team provides en-route, early entry, scalable C4 support to Regional Combatant Commands, Special Operations Command, and other agencies. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise for daily operations and maintenance of systems; Effectively troubleshooting, isolating, and resolving technical problems to minimize system downtime; Assisting with preparing and maintaining technical documentation, drawings and related artifacts; Support implementation of routine updates, approved upgrades and engineering or design changes; and Help to isolate and resolve technical issues and problems that impact multiple networks, systems, and devices.

This position requires flexibility to support 24x7 Network Operations including 12 hour shifts as required.



Responsibilities

    Providing day to day operational routing and switching support with hands on experience with Cisco Routers and Switches
  • Must have experience with routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, RIP, etc...)
  • Troubleshoot routing protocols and end-to-end network performance from the Local Area Network (LAN) through a Wide Area Network (WAN), to a Campus Area Network (CAN).
  • Willingness to cross train and support multiple technologies in an operational environment including SATCOM, Voice, VDI/Virtualization.
  • Support the system adherence to industry standards, DOD standards, DOD policies, DOD instructions, DOD directives, cybersecurity policies, and best commercial practices.
  • Utilize ticketing systems for detailed documentation of outages and network change activities.
  • Provide technical problem resolution for a wide range of network infrastructure problems or anomalies.


Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ce, CCNA Security, CySA+, etc.)
  • CCNA required
  • Education: HS Diploma and 5+ years of experience


Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Secret clearance required
  • This position will require a candidate open to "Panama Shift" work in a 24x7x365 environment
