SUMMARY
The Executive Director of Revenue Cycle Admitting & Registration is a highly skilled and innovative thinker who jointly oversees site-level registration needs alongside revenue cycle front-end leaders. Their responsibilities encompass the strategic oversight of registration activities primarily at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, extending throughout the Johns Hopkins Health System. Key duties include ensuring the timely and accurate collection and verification of patient demographic and insurance information, particularly if not completed prior to service. The Executive Director also directs the admissions and registration/check-in processes to guarantee patients timely access to care, addresses appropriateness and changes to patient placement that may affect revenue cycle reimbursement, and manages point-of-service cash collections, data entry, revenue control-including charge master maintenance-with support from JHHS and clinical departments, as well as inpatient and outpatient appeals management.
This position collaborates closely with JHHS Revenue Cycle Management, JHHS Case Mix, and JHHS Regulatory Compliance, providing essential back-office business functions for Johns Hopkins. The Executive Director is responsible for providing vision and leading teams in the design, implementation, and coordination of a system-level approach to Patient Access Registration-related services. This includes working collaboratively with Senior Revenue Cycle Leadership, Clinical Operations, and Clinical Leadership across all JHHS entities to enhance patient experience, achieve optimal outcomes, support revenue cycle and financial improvement, and drive performance.
The Executive Director leads the team with a clear vision and effective communication, achieving consensus in high-stakes conversations. They employ a collaborative style, good listening skills, and strong organizational and prioritization abilities to deliver successful outcomes. This leadership is reflected in high patient experience levels and department metrics demonstrating consistent excellence across all areas of responsibility.
Additionally, the Executive Director directs and plans activities and resources associated with the revenue cycle processes of JHHS, which includes coordinating and directing the implementation of the Epic system and upgrades for revenue cycle functions, including access and hospital billing.
