The expected hiring range for this position is: $17.20-$19.70.

About the Role: Under general supervision, is responsible for the daily care of an assigned group of children. What your day-to-day as a Day Care Attendant at Fermilab will look like:
Establishes the care necessary for each child's needs consistent with their age and stage of development; develops and executes programs/activities designed to encourage the social, physical, and intellectual development of children in the group. Ensures the children are adequately fed, rested and physically clean. Provides initial instruction and assistance in developing the child's interest in play and control of physical functions. Assesses each child's development and reports perceived problems to the Teacher or Administrator; assists in finding appropriate solutions. Monitors and ensures that an appropriate and equal level of physical attention and care is given to each child in a manner consistent with their needs, age and stage of development and that all activities are conducted in an equitable manner. Ensures the group of children are exposed to emergency and evacuation procedures through periodic drills and games. Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with students' parents and co-teachers and participates in parent conferences when necessary. Responsible for the arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness and learning environment of the classroom. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
Skills and Attributes for Success:
- High school diploma or GED. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or 12 complete semester hours in early childhood education and/or child development. 1+ year of experience teaching in an early care/education classroom. Must maintain at least 25 annual hours of continuing education in the childcare field, with a focus in early education.
Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Training and/or certification in child abuse and neglect, safe sleep, first aid, bloodborne pathogens, and CPR.
