Salary Range: $21.77-$23.92

• This position is Service Contract Act which is subject to Health & Welfare benefits

Job Summary:

The Grounds Laborer is responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds for the United States Air Force Academy Grounds. Duties include Snow Removal and Summer Grounds Maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform grounds-keeping and building maintenance duties, including snow removal during nights and early mornings and weekends.
• Mow lawns either by hand or using a riding lawnmower; trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls.
• Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
• Apply fertilizer to the ground to enhance growth.
• Shovel snow from walkways and sprinkle ice down to prevent slipping during nights and early mornings.
• Perform routine maintenance duties such as running string trimmers, leaf clean up, and other duties.
• Sweep walkways of debris.
• Cut down tree limbs as needed.
• Perform maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds-keeping.
• Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
• Install rock, mulch, sod.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and endurance.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks is essential.
• The ability to understand and communicate information effectively.
