What you'll do

Docusign is looking for Principal Engineers to join our development team in Seattle. This position will be part of a team working on Docusign's Platform that's responsible for high scale and low latency service. The service will deliver a No-Code Business Process Automation framework that allows administrators or delegates to build agreement management workflows without having to have any coding experience. This position will demand critical thinking skills, ability to quickly understand existing systems and the ability to work in agile environments. The ability to take smart and educated risks is essential to the success of this position. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering.

Responsibility

  • Think about how to solve problems in scale and build fault tolerant systems

  • Develop high-quality, ship-ready code that is covered by a full test suite

  • Design and develop a web-scale service that follows microservice principles and is deployed using containerized cloud technologies to allow customer administrators the ability to construct simple business processes without having to have coding expertise

  • Work with Product Management and other developers to understand and translate marketing requirements into design requirements and provide estimates for development

  • Work as part of a cross-site development team to drive design, implementation, testing and release of products


Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 15+ years development experience
  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Informatics or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Experience working with C#, Go, Java or other modern programming languages

Preferred

  • Experience building Cloud Native Services using REST APIs, Microservices based architectures, and containerized technologies (e.g. K8S, and Docker)
  • Experience architecting/designing, developing, troubleshooting and debugging multi-regional web-services
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Directly involved in the design and operation of large-scale cloud services, including troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Experience in high-scale distributed systems and fault tolerant design
  • Experience w/ Agile and Test-driven development methodologies
  • Experiences with the entire software development lifecycle, including version control (git), CICD pipelines, testing, and regional cloud deployments
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment, prioritize your work and manage your own time
  • A passion to learn new software technologies

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $195,500.00 - $315,775.00 base salary

Illinois and Colorado: $186,200.00 - $263,000.00 base salary

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $186,200.00 - $276,125.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
