- Two (2) years of post-secondary education or training with course work in the area of assignment (Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Anatomy and Physiology, OR Physical Therapy Assisting) is required. (Multiple areas are not required - can be either math OR science OR health professions)
- Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered qualifying.

Position Purpose: |
Provide one-on-one and group tutoring to Lane students taking math, science, and/or pre-health professions courses to help them reach their educational goals. |
Essential Functions: |
- Works independently and as part of a team.
- Tutors students in specific math, science, and/or health professions subject matter as recommended by program leads.
- Assists in training or mentoring student/peer tutors.
- Assists students to work through assigned materials or self instructional modules.
- Observes and diagnoses areas that are causing the student problems in their course assignments.
- Attends training and seeks out professional development as needed to support Lane students.
- Discusses problem areas with students and provides explanation, clarification, reference materials or examples.
- Reports needs and issues to the Academic and Tutoring team as needed.
- Problem solves and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards (training provided).
- Maintains confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement: |
This position works with the Academic and Tutoring Services Coordinator team and reports to the Director of Academic & Tutoring Services. |
Physical Demands/Working Environment: |
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely. |

The college was a successor to the Eugene Technical-Vocational School that was founded in 1938.
