CCL Apprentice - Forest Creek

Overview

Learn on-the-job under the supervision of a journeyman. Apprentices will begin by learning the core construction skills that provide a foundation of safety and productivity across all industry sectors. These include but are not limited to: Construction Site Safety Orientation; Introduction to Construction Math, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Basic Rigging and Material Handling; Basic Communication and Employability Skills; Confined Space Awareness; Fall Protection; and First Aid/CPR/AED. Successful completion of core skills means a move to increased industry knowledge in one or more areas of concentration: Industrial, Wind and Solar Construction.


Responsibilities

  • Exhibit an enthusiasm to learn
  • Display an eagerness to build their knowledge and are willing to put in the effort to develop their skills
  • Attend formal training and complete on-the-job training
  • Complete all homework to build their knowledge and skillset and to meet the requirements of the apprenticeship
  • Keep log of on-the-job training activities
  • Complete all tests, presentations, and other required evaluations
  • Build professional relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Observe health and safety procedures
  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Attend all training available onsite to understand new tools, equipment, and work procedures
  • Learn and perform general tasks involving physical labor
  • May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments
  • May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials
  • Adhere to the business' set standards, follow all rules, and comply to legal regulations
  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Perform tasks and other duties as directed by Journeyman/Supervisor
  • May assist other craft workers
  • Meet hard deadlines and work to strict schedules
  • Solve problems and think critically to resolve issues
  • Follow instructions clearly and work well as part of a team

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • 0 to 4,000 On the job Training hours
  • Experience using basic power tools preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
  • Ability to travel and work away from home base area for the entire duration of the apprenticeship program
  • Ability to perform tasks as directed by Journeyman Written and verbal communication skills
