As a Data Engineer with an agile mindset, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and delivery of large-scale, critical, and complex data architectures and pipelines. You will build enterprise-wide distributed data processing systems, optimizing both computational and storage efficiencies on cloud platforms, wielding the very latest in technological advancements available.

Your contributions will have a direct impact to the investment decisions that affect millions of people who trust Capital Group to manage their portfolios, and their futures. You will build systems that drive the future of innovation across multiple software teams and will work with some of the brightest minds in tech today.

  • You have 3+ years of experience with agile software development while ensuring disciplined engineering practices, focusing on quality and test-driven development
  • You have 3+ years of experience working on the AWS cloud platform
  • You can write complex SQL queries across large data sets and have data modeling experience using DBT
  • You have hands-on experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Kestra, Prefect, or similar
  • You have positioned your career toward enterprise data engineering and are intent on becoming a leader in that realm
  • You are able to envision, document, and implement system designs for data ingestion frameworks from the ground up
  • You are highly disciplined in the art of system design documentation, seeking peer reviews and collaboration before writing any code
  • You understand the big data ecosystem and distributed data processing (Hadoop, Spark, Hive) and are comfortable working with data formats like parquet/delta/iceberg/etc
  • You have worked with enterprise data platforms like Databricks or Dremio
  • You have considerable technical and analytical abilities, in addition to sound business acumen.
  • You have a passion for achieving results, even under tough circumstances. You're persistent in finding the best solutions in order to solve a problem
  • You exhibit a strong sense of ownership as well as a keen desire to collaborate, understanding that enterprise-level systems are often the product of a broad brain-trust across teams
  • You have experience working in a diversity of situations and can rapidly adapt to changes with a learning mindset
Seattle Base Salary Range: $148,045-$236,872

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
