Job Summary |
This position will provide general maintenance and custodial support for UTD's Student Housing facilities. Duties involve general support of an assigned housing building. |
Minimum Education and Experience |
Six months experience in custodial maintenance work; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to read, write, communicate and understand written and oral instructions in English. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
1 - 2 years of custodial or general maintenance work experience. Experience operating carpet cleaning and floor care machines such as buffers, extractors, auto scrubbers, and burnishers. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Assist maintenance with flooring work that may contain vacuum, spot clean, and/or extract carpets and water extraction.
- Report bathroom and light fixtures malfunctions, and damages to room and hall furnishings to the maintenance supervisor.
- Stock area with appropriate supplies.
- Lock and unlock doors as directed.
- Assist with work orders for repair/maintenance, including changing light bulbs.
- Assist custodial operations as needed.
- Maintain grounds and property with trash pickup, debris removal, and outdoor furniture arrangement.
- Set up rooms for activities or classes by moving tables, moving chairs, and setting up projectors and screens to support daily activities and special events in residential areas.
- Assist maintenance with turn and make-ready activities and supplies.
- Provide quality customer service.
- Assure all safety precautions are followed in the workplace.
- Communicate effectively in a professional manner and be a team player.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions |
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must possess at the time of hire and maintain a valid Texas Driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
May be required to report to on-site work location during campus closure.
May be required to report to on-site work location during inclement weather. |
