The Nurse Educator demonstrates leadership by inspiring others to give compassionate remarkable care to improve patient outcomes. The Nurse Educator will provide professional development and education for staff in preparing for contemporary practice and supporting them in acquiring the knowledge and skills to competently deliver safe patient focused care and services within a culture of safety. The Nurse Educator coordinates with the Nursing Leadership team and the Director of Nursing Education to develop educational goals and plans for the organization. The Nurse Educator functions in collegial relationships with physicians nursing peers and other professionals and individuals who influence the health environment. - Serves as an Expert Clinician throughout the medical center.

- Assists and provides direction to nursing staff with clinical decision-making and priority setting.
- Models excellence in nursing practice through the utilization of advanced concepts in the areas of assessment diagnosis planning implementation and evaluation of perceived actual or potential problems that occur in a variety of patient populations.
- Functions as a facilitator and innovator for state-of-the-art nursing care with direct involvement in implementing and evaluating new techniques and equipment for safety cost-effectiveness and benefits related to nursing practice.

- Ensures required equipment is clean in proper working order and in good repair; and present for each course offered.

- Serves as a Clinical Resource and Consultant to clinical leadership and nursing staff and interdisciplinary colleagues to optimize clinical outcomes.

Other information: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five years of nursing experience in the acute care setting
- Expert resource in telemetry
- Previous experience in an education role or adjunct education experience in a hospital setting.
- Competency in word processing email power point excel and clinical applications used within the hospital environment
- Previous Nursing Education Experience preferred
- MSN preferred
- PALS Instructor Certification preferred
- Is responsible for ongoing development of his/her work skills through the use of available resources (i.e.: in-services formal educational programs other work groups and on-the-job training).
- Is responsible to develop staff educators and unit based educators to meet the needs of the organization.
