POSITION SUMMARY:

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Unit Coordinator for its 80-bed behavioral health hospital located in Brockton, MA. BMC Brockton operates as a behavioral health accountable care organization providing cutting edge inpatient treatment and stabilization for individuals experiencing complex mental health and substance use needs.

The Unit Coordinator is responsible for providing quality care services to patients by supporting the daily operations of the inpatient psychiatric unit. The Unit coordinator will perform administrative and clerical tasks as needed, including answering phones, assisting with patient registration, assisting with intake requests and communicating with patients, staff and guests.

Department: Brockton Behavioral Health Center

Schedule: 40 hrs (Evenings) M-F 3-11:30pm

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Patient Registration

  • Admission coordination including adding patients to bed board

  • Answering telephones and coordinating intakes

  • Coordinate and prioritize tasks, maintaining daily flow of the unit in a complex, rapidly changing environment

  • Communicate with staff, families, and other departments utilizing effective communication skills

  • Effectively coordinate communications involving incoming calls and e-fax

  • Gather intake information and patient records

  • Review referrals and verify all information

  • Assist with data collection and reporting that complies with local, State and Federal guidelines

  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient care information to assure rights are protected

  • Maintain a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other external referring agencies

  • Other duties as requested by supervisor


Education:

HS Diploma or GED (required), Associates or Bachelor's degree (preferred)

Experience:


  • One (1) year experience in a medical environment (preferred)

  • Effectively manage various administrative tasks

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
