Position Highlights:

  • Edward Hospital 801 S. Washington St. Naperville, IL.
  • Core Lab
  • Part Time: 0.5 FTE
  • Hours: 6am-2:30pm various shifts during the week and every other weekend; Includes holiday rotations

A Brief Overview:
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs various clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Laboratory in order to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

What you will do:

  • Performs patient tests, manually and through the use of automated clinical laboratory equipment, reagents and/or test methodologies.
  • Maintains competencies in accordance with policy/procedure of the hospital and department
  • Performs quality control checks per established protocols. Records these QC checks appropriately and takes corrective action when checks are not within established guidelines. Documents corrective action taken.
  • Reviews test results for accuracy and notifies appropriate clinical personnel of all critical results. Documents this notification per established protocols.
  • Performs instrument checks, maintenance and troubleshooting per department protocol
  • Oversees the work of Laboratory Assistant, provides guidance and instruction as appropriate. Verifies competency as required.
  • Maintains knowledge level that is consistent with the changes within the healthcare environment. Reads appropriate books and journals in order to be used as a resource to other lab staff and nursing

What you will need:

  • Associates Degree or higher in Medical Technology or Medical Lab Science, Required
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC), Preferred
