General Summary of Position

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for a Transporter to join our team at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital!

As a Transporter at MedStar Health, you will provide safe and effective transport for patients to and from the Radiology Department. Assist other radiology staff in the maintenance and upkeep of the Radiology equipment, area, and supplies.

Primary Duties:

  • Transports patients to and from Radiology in a friendly, safe, and efficient manner. Writes patients in and out of Radiology on the transport log and has the patient's nurse sign them off. Follow infection control procedures.

  • Reports any problems or questions to the patient's nurse and supervisor. Assists technologists with set up and treatment of patients as required. Monitors patients in the waiting area and calls for assistance if needed.

  • Routinely maintains and cleans equipment. Keeps rooms neat and clean, and stocked with supplies. 8. Reports faulty equipment to the supervisor for repair right away. Logs in requests and maintains accuracy of terminal digit numbering system for exam reference. Distributes Pregnancy Screening Forms.

  • Courteously answers phone calls and takes accurate messages. Sorts filing materials, prepares file folders, and accurately places them into the filing system. Perform duties in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision or direction. Contributes to cohesive group relationships; uses open communication to identify and resolve problems in and between departments.

  • Make suggestions for improvement of procedures or innovations to enhance patient service. Participate in inter and intra departmental performance improvement teams as directed

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) within 90 days of hire.

This position has a hiring range of $17.50 - $28.73
