Description The Clinical Data Manager will manage a CNMC Clinic department's data processes and develop, implement and maintain a data quality assurance program for quality, improvement, evidence based practice and health service research studies. The Data Manager will define and create databases and perform analyses of clinical data.
Qualifications

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree preferably in Nursing or other healthcare field (Required)
Master's Degree related field may substitute for some of the required experience (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
3 years related and progressive experience (Required)
3 years clinical experience caring for Congenital Heart Patients, including Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery or Outpatient Clinic (Preferred)
3 years experience with Congenital Heart Registries / Databases like Society of Thoracic Surgeons Congenital Heart Surgery Database (STS CHSD), Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4), Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Collaborative (PAC3), American College of Cardiology IMPACT or other healthcare registry / database. (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
Information & Database Management



  • Responsible to provide analytical and programmatic support to ongoing program projects and initiatives.


  • Oversee the accuracy of data entry functions; maintain data quality for data registries, quality improvement and research studies.


  • Provide data mining and quality assurance of CNMC and Department's various databases.


  • Coordinate data transfer and data reconciliation.


  • Develop Access databases and Web-based data management tools as needed.


  • Represent Department in hospital-wide quality of care evaluation efforts such as Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE); provide clinical activity and performance data from for use in OPPE reports.


  • Provide computer programming support to the ongoing departmental activities and specific clinical programs, as well as external, hospital-wide efforts.


  • Provide web design, development and programming in support of the Department's website in order to ensure centralization of medical staff schedules, medical service requesting and information exchange, facilitation of collaborative, Quality Improvement and Clinical Research efforts, as well as to provide real-time dashboarding and reporting.


Quality Assurance



  • Work with quality improvement directors and research coordinators to ascertain data needs for quality improvement, outcome and health services studies.


  • Act as a liaison between quality improvement/research teams, IT professionals and analysts to create analysis data sets for research purposes.


  • Assume responsibility as a partner for the planning and execution of relevant internal and external data management activities to obtain clean databases within a specified timeframe.


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data quality program for quality improvement and outcome research studies.


  • Manage data collection and entry teams to assure content quality.


  • Manage data abstraction and entry team as well as provide clinical data quality assurance and data analytical competencies to the quality improvement initiative that collect and analyze clinical decisions data to standardize care in a fast evolving clinical environment (SCAMP)

  • Provide clear direction for data collection and data analysis for QI and research teams across the Department.


  • Provide data and information analysis feedback to all staff in a constructive, timely manner .
