Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Applications are invited for motivated scholars to join the laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Rutgers University - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Cluntun Lab focuses on metabolic regulation in cardiac disease, with particular emphasis on lactate metabolism and its role in conditions like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The primary aim of this position is to use in vivo metabolic tracing, metabolomics, and mouse models to explore metabolic pathways influencing heart function and disease progression.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Design and lead research projects focused on in vivo metabolic tracing in mouse models.
  • Perform metabolomic analyses to investigate metabolic pathways relevant to cardiac health.
  • Engage in scientific communication, train junior personnel, contribute to grant writing, and manuscript preparation.
  • Oversee mouse model work, including maintaining accurate records of experimental results.
  • Collaborate on evaluating current procedures and propose new methods or improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of research methodologies and selection of instrumentation for metabolic studies.
  • Present research findings at national conferences and prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields.
  • Candidates in ABD (all but degree) status will also be considered.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong background in in vivo metabolic tracing, metabolomics, and mouse work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
  • Strong publication record and a passion for understanding metabolic regulation in heart disease.
