Under general supervision, provides supportive services to patients and families. Provides information regarding patient information, hospital services, policies and procedures. Provides emotional support to families of patient crisis.

COMPETENCIES:

A. Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

B. Knowledge:

Requires knowledge of general policies and procedures of patient representative program normally acquired through three to six months of experience on this job or equivalent.

Some analytical ability is required to investigate patient complaints and prepare reports.

C. Skills:

Substantial interpersonal skills needed to frequently interact with patients, families and medical staff and to comfort patients' families. Advanced communication skills.

D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:

None

E. Work Experience:

At least 2 years experience in health care environment is preferred.

F. Machines, Tools, Equipment:

General office equipment, telephone.
