Pitt Research Shared Services Research Administrator I (Remote or Hybrid) The University of Pittsburgh's Office of Sponsored Programs is seeking a Pitt Research Shared Services Research Administrator I. The Pitt Research Shared Services Research Administrator I is responsible for pre-award processes for sponsored project submissions in the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research (SVCR), Katz Graduate School of Business, School of Law, and Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) as well as all post-award accounting and compliance. This position reports daily to the Pitt Research Shared Services Research Administrator II with broad oversight by the Vice Chancellor for Sponsored Programs and Research Operations. The position also works closely with other finance and administrative staff in Deans' offices. Incumbent interacts routinely with faculty and staff, funders, and internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent will prepare and submit grants for SVCR, Katz, Law, and GSPIA personnel and will ensure compliance with all applicable internal and external processes and procedures. Post-award financial responsibilities will include the creation, reconciliation, and monitoring of SVCR, Katz, Law and GSPIA sponsored project accounts and associated subawards. Using financial software and data, the incumbent will analyze and report performance data for sponsored grant activity and use a range of Pitt, unit-specific, and external systems related to proposals, information management, and reporting. The Pitt Research Shared Services Research Administrator I is integrated within the Office of Sponsored Programs to provide research administrative support to strengthen the University of Pittsburgh's ability to apply and be awarded extramural funding for research and sponsored programs. Job Summary Performs pre- and post-award accounting duties for moderately complex grants and contracts. Prepares, negotiates, and monitors grants, contracts, and budgets. Maintains award-related schedules, prepares government applications and reports, and interprets policy and procedure. Monitors account activity, resolves routine issues, and prepares routine financial documents. Suggests operational improvements. Essential Functions Heavy public contact with government agencies, private organizations, and foundations as well as Pitt central offices. Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate, write, and understand policies, regulations, data, and procedures. Manages grant budgets and reviews expenditure reports. Physical Effort Position is primarily sedentary. Work can be done using electronic systems and applications.
