Position Description:

As a Content Writer - Philanthropy, you will read and manage the conception and production of donor-facing content within the Office of Institutional Advancement. This role is responsible for crafting persuasive narratives, compelling appeals, donor communications, grant proposals, and other written content to engage prospective donors, benefactors, and other stakeholders in alignment with strategic funding priorities for Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW).

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing content for broad and individual donor audiences, including writing, editing, and proofreading major donor proposals, impact stories, stewardship reports, key donor correspondence, cases statements, grant proposals, appeals, and additional materials aligned with funding priorities within the comprehensive campaign for Froedtert Hospital and MCW.
  • Actively participates in strategy sessions with development staff to create cases of support with compelling requests for funding that demonstrates institutional impact.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional roles and teams, including the creative services design team, development, stewardship, events, and alumni teams, plus the MCW Office of Communications and Froedtert Marketing teams, and program leaders to understand their content needs and provide writing solutions that support philanthropic objectives.
  • Meets content deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings; transmitting proposals.
  • Collaborates with internal leaders and gathers data to support the development of persuasive narratives and compelling stories that resonate with donors and stakeholders, incorporating evidence-based arguments and impact metrics.
  • Makes persuasive verbal and written cases for supporting key philanthropy campaign priorities, effectively matching the interests of prospects to specific projects and programs needing support and ensure effective stewardship of donor relationships.
  • Ensures that the philanthropic and alumni creative adheres to the Froedtert and MCW brand voice and messaging guidelines and standards to ensure alignment with organizational values, priorities, and strategic messaging themes.
  • Understands the academic mission, vision and philanthropic priorities of Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin is essential to success in this role.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail, grammar, style, and tone. A highly organized professional with entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, and resourcefulness.

  • Professional credibility and decision-making integrity to gain trust of key constituents and leaders. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all constituencies, fostering inclusiveness and diversity of ideas.

  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced deadline-oriented team environment and adapt to changing circumstances in a complex environment and embrace challenges.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects under demanding deadlines are essential.

  • Demonstrated analytic and strategic thinking capabilities.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Monday.com, Raiser's Edge, and other creative applications are desired.

  • A highly developed ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information related to both alumni and donors, as well as employees.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Minimum education: Bachelor's Degree
Minimum experience: 2 years - Content and writing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred education: Master's Degree
Preferred experience: 4 years; preferably in Philanthropy/Advancement Setting
