Position Summary This position, reporting to the Attending Veterinarian/Director of the Office of Veterinary Resources, will be a staff veterinarian providing care to a variety of animal species used in research and teaching at the Washington Square and Tandon campuses; Responsibilities include assisting the Attending Veterinarian/Director and working with other veterinary staff to provide clinical care, surgical and anesthetic technical support and preventative care to maintain research animal health and well-being. The staff veterinarian will assist in supervision of veterinary technical staff and provide guidance in the planning and oversight of approved experimental and clinical surgery and procedures. These responsibilities would include appropriate use of anesthetics, analgesics, paralytics, antibiotics, and other supportive drugs and technical procedures in the pre-operative, peri-operative, and post-operative periods. Responsibilities also include guidance and assistance to OVR and investigator staff in the appropriate methods of humane care and use of research animals when appropriate, assist in oversight of training and educational programs for animal care and research staff; and provide research support and consultation for investigators. The position will also support functions of the IACUC by assisting in protocol reviews, inspections, and investigator support, and assisting to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and accreditation standards related to the care and use of research animals. Qualifications Required Education: Additional Information In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $160,000.00 to USD $200,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
