General Information:

We are looking for a dedicated Control Design Engineer at Hitachi Energy, Transformers business in South Boston VA. This is an opportunity to work with engineering challenges related to Distribution transformers. This role includes hands-on participation in different engineering tasks as well as communication with different stakeholders.

There is more than one way to approach this role. You can be a strong professional with several years of relevant experience or a recently graduated/graduating student with willingness and courage to test your limits in learning new things and taking on the challenges that are part of our daily work. Depending on your background, we will provide training and support to help you grow and develop into this role.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design of transformer connection and wiring diagrams
  • Create Bill of Materials and Panel layouts.
  • Create and maintain product structures
  • Close communication with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, procurement, production, testing and quality
  • Close cooperation with external partners and subcontractors

Your Background:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. or Diploma in electrical or automation engineering
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Good understanding in electrical or automation engineering as well as in assembly process and component selection
  • Basic understanding in communication protocols
  • Skills in electrical design software, preferably AutoCAD or E3.
  • You shall be self-guided, systematic, analytic, organized and accurate in your way of working
  • Strong verbal and written skills in Finnish and English. Other language skills are considered as an advantage.
  • You will work independently and as a member of a team
  • Capable of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and skillsets

  • Knowledge of UL508 and NEC.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and IEEE standards.
