Clinical Technician 1 in the Observation Unit at Inova Loudoun Hospital (Part Time - Day shift)

The Observation Unit (Obs) at Loudoun Hospital is a 27 bed unit with a rapid patient turnover of admission and discharges. The patient population consists of cardiac, neurological, medical, and surgical patients (mostly geriatric). Learn the fast pace atmosphere of an ER setting while gaining critical medical/surgical nursing skills. This is a great environment for someone who has strong time management skills, works well as a team, and strives in a fast pace environment. It is not unusual for this unit to turn into an inpatient unit.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Provides basic activities of daily living nursing care (e.g. bathing and feeding) and measurement of vital signs and intake/output.
  • Demonstrates competency in all required clinical skills and technologies in accordance with Inova Health System policies and procedures.
  • Completes assigned patient duties within the established time frame.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development in providing care for the patient population assigned.
  • Completes necessary documentation accurately and reinforces discharge teaching and home care skills.
  • Communicates changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
  • Partners with Registered Nurse to create a professional development plan to provide employee with the necessary skills to deliver up to date patient care.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.


Shift: Day shift
Schedule: Two 12 hour shifts per week (with every other weekend rotation)
Training: Ideal candidate must be able to attend a 6 week training course

Requirements:



  • Experience: Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Certification: BLS within 90 days of hire (from the American Heart Association).
  • Training: Candidate must be able to attend a 6 week training orientation upon hire.
